Background
Angelie Renay Melzer has performed and taught with numerous professional companies throughout the United States including Colorado Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet, and Dayton Ballet. She has performed principal and soloist roles in numerous classical and contemporary ballets. Angelie was trained in the Vaganova and Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) methods completing the RAD examinations. She studied on full scholarship at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, and Colorado Ballet. Recently Angelie has had modern works created on her including the solo “Magnolia” and duet “And Then There Was…” Angelie works with professional and pre-professional companies throughout the country as a principal guest artist and master teacher aiding them in the development of their ballet programs, performing and setting choreography on their dancers. Ms. Melzer is a certified instructor and teacher trainer in the Pilates method of exercise and rehabilitation. She is the Founding Artistic Director of Missouri River Dance Company in Great Falls, Montana, Past President of the Montana Dance Arts Association and recipient of the YWCA “Salute to Women” 2003 award in Creative Arts and Communication. Her most recent choreographic work was a full length ballet “A Tremendious Journey: The Lewis and Clark Ballet” for the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial events, which is currently being considered for presentation by the Smithsonian Institute. Angelie is currently teaching at the Kansas City Ballet and the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
